Today I bit the bullet and ditched my sad attempt at a goatee. It just wasn’t pretty. Now at least I’ve minimized the amount of awkwardness on my face, and I am ready to follow the official Movember rules a whole week ahead of schedule (we gave everyone a grace period to get started on growing).
I also learned a very important lesson today: do not lose your driver’s license during the month of Movember! Because I never updated my address with the DMV it was necessary for me to replace the license in-person… which means a new picture was taken… which means my new license will have a dirty upper lip!! Luckily it expires in a little more than a year – whew!
Google’s still playing with fire – and according to Smokey the Bear, only you can prevent fires!

The upper-lip hair is definitely noticeable now – people keep eyeing me funny, probably wondering if I’m intentionally trying to grow a Mo or just generally a lazy guy. Luckily it’s easy when you have a whole team around you doing the same thing!
In shocking new, Google has recently surpassed us in fundraising efforts! We have some fun ideas planned for the coming weeks, however, so we’ll keep our hopes high and keep on plugging!

I felt so gross today, I just had to shave… so I cleaned up everything and left the basics around. The sides were growing in kind of patchy, anyway! Gross.
Still doing well on our fight against cancer and Google – though they are catching up quickly!

I survived day 2 with little to show for it. I finally got a little of the 5 o’clock shadow that most people would have gotten at 5pm on the first day.
Our team (The MOXstaches) is already off to an amazing start! Google is playing fierce, but so far Microsoft has been keeping up. Here’s the latest snapshot:

Well, folks – it’s not going to be pretty, but for the next 30 days I’ll be joining my team (Microsoft Office: MOX) in growing a moustache to raise awareness for men’s health (cancer, in particular – benefiting The Prostate Cancer Foundation and Livestrong). Our team, The MOXstaches, registered for the official event called “Movember” last week to aid the entire Microsoft community in raising money and [friendly] competition against Google. “Mo” is short for Moustache in Australia, where the event originated. We all started today with freshly-shaven faces from the holiday weekend… and now we begin to Grow the Mo!
Stay tuned for frequent updates. If you hate cancer, help us fight it (and beat Google) by supporting the MOXstaches!
