More photos of the strange floats in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I’ll do my best to clear up the story behind them all!
The floats in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade were not quite what I had imagined. We stood waiting for over an hour and a half until the parade made it down to us, then realized we couldn’t see very well over the crowd. Megan managed to snap a few photos, which I will try to describe here.
I asked Megan to get a picture of a crosswalk signal in Dublin, Ireland. The funny video-game-like sounds that the lights emitted made crossing the street feel like a game of Frogger or Space Invaders!
You can find many examples of the sound on YouTube; I especially like this one that demonstrates how little people care about waiting for the walk signal.
This piece entitled the “Jester’s Chair” stands as a memorial for Irish comedian/actor Dermot Morgan in Merrion Square.
